The TeraFlex Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier Kit is engineered to securely support oversized spare tires up to 40 inches on Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU models—without stressing the tailgate. By utilizing the factory tailgate hinge mounting points, this system spreads the load across reinforced areas of the JL body, eliminating tailgate fatigue and ensuring long-term durability on extreme trails.
The JL-specific Alpha HD design spans nearly the full width of the tailgate for superior weight distribution and features a one-piece forged steel hinge that ties the upper and lower factory hinges together, plus added vertical bracing for maximum strength. The carrier opens smoothly with the tailgate, providing easy cargo access in one motion. Additional mounting points allow you to add off-road accessories like a recovery jack or fluid containers.
Note: The Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mount is not included but is required to support a 40” tire. While the adjustable mount can be used alone, it’s designed to work best with this hinged carrier.
