The TeraFlex Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier & Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit (5x5) is a complete, heavy-duty solution engineered to securely support full-size spare tires up to 40 inches on Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU models. Designed for extreme off-road use, this system eliminates tailgate stress while providing smooth, one-motion access to the rear cargo area.
The Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier utilizes the factory tailgate hinge mounting points, spreading the load across reinforced areas of the JL body to maximize strength and durability. A one-piece forged steel hinge ties the upper and lower factory hinges together, while additional vertical bracing and internal gussets further increase rigidity. Compared to earlier JK designs, the JL carrier spans nearly the full width of the tailgate for superior weight distribution.
Paired with it, the Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mount (5x5) provides full vertical and fore/aft adjustability, allowing precise tire positioning. Constructed from 6061-T6 extruded aluminum and heavily gusseted CNC laser-cut steel, the mount includes a quick-release 3rd brake light mount and a billet aluminum rearview camera mount, ensuring OEM functionality is retained with oversized tires.
